We were approached in February 2013 to see if we would be interested in getting involved with the constructing & commissioning a tender assisted drilling package in Dalian, North East China. Our role was to manage the activities to ensure a timely completion. The rig construction was started in Galveston, Texas USA. It was then shipped to Dalian to be finalised & commissioned.
NESL initially supplied a construction manager, commissioning manager & construction supervisor. Our role was a get the rig ready for shipment to the Papa Terra oil field off the coast of Brazil. On the back of the progress we made we were later asked to provide electrical support, 4 Compex certified rig electricians.
This project was finally delivered to Atlantica Tender Drilling for a contract in the Atlantic Ocean, in November 2013, for Petrobras.
Following on from the success in Dalian, in early 2014 we were asked to provide the same management team (construction & commissioning), this time to Galveston, USA. We spent 11 months assisting in the next project, Gamma. This time many of the snags, issues & problems that were encountered in China were to be resolved before the drilling package was shipped. This would save time, money & use the expertise and knowledge gained from the Beta package.
The USA phase of the Gamma project was handed over to DSIC in February 2015. It was shipped to China to be integrated with the Tender Assist Barge. Once again NESL’s knowledge & expertise were required to assist DSIC China with the drilling package integration & re commissioning with the Heavy Tender Barge (HTB).
